Leading African festivals dedicated to animation and comic programming have announced joint programming with effect from 2020.

Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF)–the only dedicated animation festival in Africa–and Comic Con–a comic book and pop culture convention in South Africa–say their collaboration shall not only see them become Comic Com Cape Town but that it shall also ensure the longevity of both festivals by bringing together the fans into one venue at the same time.

The programme of the first edition of Comic Com Cape Town, scheduled for May 1 -3, 2020, will comprise film, series, animation, cosplay, comic books and gaming.
The strategic partnership between CTIAF and Comic Con, the partners say, is aimed at creating a larger following for animation across Africa.

The collaboration, it is argued, will also help in growing the offering for fans of both animation and comics as animation plays a big role in both films and series.
