African Photographic Contest Announces Winners

3rd Prize US$1000: Planning Ahead by Ayorinde Ogundele (Nigeria)Wiki Loves Africa, an all-Africa visual narrative competition that encourages people to contribute Africa-relevant photos, video or audio to Wikimedia Commons, has announced the winners.

The organisers of the event that was held on the theme Home & Habitat say they received 16 265 entries from which the winners have emerged.

  • 1st Prize US$2000.: A Nubia by Summering2018 (Egypt)
  • 2nd Prize US$1500: Home is My Work 2 by Mohamed Hozyen (Egypt), and
  • 3rd Prize US$1000: Planning Ahead by Ayorinde Ogundele (Nigeria)

Dream Home by Green Wilfred Somoni (Nigeria) wins this year’s US$1000 video prize.

Wiki Loves Africa 2022 Special Collection Prize
This year a US$750 prize is awarded to a collection of images that tell a story. This year, the jurors felt Myousry6666 photo essay Windows Stories was poignant and beautifully executed.

1st Prize US$2000.: A Nubia by Summering2018 (Egypt)All 16,265 photographs, videos and audio submitted to Wiki Loves Africa 2022 are released under CC-BY-SA-40, which means they are free to share and adapt as long as you give appropriate attribution.
