Lola Kenya Screen offers a full-fledged internship in creative entrepreneurship (event management, conception and production of high quality movies, exhibition and promotion of films, critical appreciation of creativity, media literacy).
Subject to availability of resources, out-of-school and final year students of Communication, Information and Mass Media (Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Video Production, Web Development, Graphic Design and related subjects) are placed in the programme for 7-12 weeks .
The programme equips participants with creative and critical skills through Lola Kenya Screen’s annual festival, school outreach programme and on-the job internship opportunities.
Interested participants have to apply–complete with their curriculum vitae and motivation, and introductory/request letter from school–to be considered.
Since its inception in 2005, Interns in our skills-development programme have so far come from University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Maseno University, Uganda Christian University, Kampala International University, Daystar University, Nairobi Film School, Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Tangaza College, Kenya Polytechnic, United States International University, Kenya Science Teachers College, Multi-Media University College and Kenya Private Sector Alliance.
In 2010 the programme traversed the breadth and width of Nairobi City and its environs, introducing primary school pupils and secondary school, college and university students to the various aspects of film criticism, film journalism and media literacy.
