The first-look teaser and key art for the highly-anticipated second season of Showmax’s Kenyan drama series, Single Kiasi, has been unveiled.
Single Kiasi season 2 will premiere on January 16, 2023, taking over the Thursday slot from the crime drama, Pepeta, which ends on January 12, 2023 after eight episodes.
Directed by Insignia Productions duo Grace Kahaki and Philippe Bresson, Single Kiasi follows the lives of three women in Nairobi – Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca – as they go through the ups and downs of marriage, relationships, and their careers. It also explores the strong bond of friendship that these women share, knowing that even when the world crumbles around them, they will always have each other.

Season two picks up a couple of months after the shocking events of the season one finale that threw uncertainty over their love lives, and will find our beloved characters experiencing transformational events that will impact their friendship in unforeseen ways.
Gathoni Mutua, Minne Kariuki and Faith Kibathi are reprising their roles as leads Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca respectively. Also returning are Michael Munyoki (A Grand Little Lie), Brian Abajah (Sincerely Daisy), Kevin Maina, Walter Bruce Opiyo, Derek Bbanga and Maggie Kiundi.
New cast joining the second season includes Grace Wacuka (A New Christmas) as Olivia, a new female lead and Sintamei’s old friend; Fidel Maithya (Selina); Quincy Rapando (Zora); Ian Mbugua (Chaguo); Mufasa Kibet aka Mufasa Poet (Crime and Justice); and Ciku Shire (Famous), with newcomers Brenda Gasere, Ashley Kareez and Amos Kabole Matuku.

With this announcement of Single Kiasi season two, it’s going to be another exciting year for the film and TV industry in Kenya as Showmax lines up more titles for its Kenyan subscribers in 2023, including the highly-anticipated The Real Housewives of Nairobi and more which will be announced in the course of the year.
In 2022 alone, Showmax released a record of six Original titles in Kenya, starting off with Single Kiasi S1 in January, the police procedural Crime and Justice S2 in February, the thriller series Igiza in May, the political thriller County 49 in August, the Kibera-set crime drama series Pepeta in November, and finally, A Familiar Christmas, Kenya’s first-ever Christmas feature in December.
